Citrine is a variety of yellow colored quartz composed of iron and silicon oxide. Its color is due to the presence of tiny amounts of iron oxides included in the mineral. In its natural state citrine is rare. We can mostly find amethysts artificially heated to take the color yellow instead of violet. Its name comes from the Latin citrus which designates the lemon.
